Medical Conditions

AXA Insurance UK plc

AXA policies do not cover any pre - existing medical conditions.

Pre-existing medical condition means:

  • Any respiratory condition (relating to the lungs or breathing), cardiovascular condition (any condition relating to the heart, arteries, veins or blood pressure), stroke or cancer for which you have received treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations by your doctor or a consultant / specialist and prescribed drugs or medication) and
  • Any medical condition you have, or have had, for which you are taking prescribed medication or are waiting to receive, or have received treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations) within the last 12 months.
  • Any medical condition for which you have received a terminal prognosis.
  • Any medical condition for which you have not had a diagnosis.
  • Any medical condition for which you are on a waiting list for or have knowledge of the need for surgery, in patient treatment or investigation at a hospital, clinic or nursing home.
  • Any circumstances you are aware of that could reasonably be expected to give rise to a claim on this policy.
  • Any medical condition you have in respect of which a medical practitioner has advised you not to travel or would have done so had you sought his / her advice.
  • Any medical condition for which you are travelling with the intention of obtaining medical treatment (including surgery or investigation) or advice outside of the United Kingdom or within the Channel Islands.
  • Any medical condition for which you are not taking the recommended treatment or prescribed medication as directed by a medical practitioner.
  • Pregnancy or childbirth where you are expected to give birth within eight weeks of the start of the trip, during the trip or within eight weeks of the end of the trip.

If you or any of your travelling companions have a medical condition which has been suffered, or for which medical advice, treatment or medication has been received prior to the date of issue of this policy you must declare this when taking out your policy. Please contact your broker or agent for details. You may be required to pay an additional premium to cover a medical condition.

Please note that there is no cover if, at the time of booking your trip or effecting your insurance, and in the case of annual multi trip travel insurance at the time of booking each trip, you, your travelling companions, your relatives or anyone else upon whom your travel plans depend:

  • Is expected to give birth within 14 weeks of the return date of your trip.
  • Is receiving or is on a waiting list for in-patient hospital or clinic treatment.
  • Is travelling against the advise of a medical practitioner or for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment abroad.
  • Have received a terminal prognosis.

On Going Health Warranty – If there is a significant change in your medical condition or if you develop a new condition (after you have taken out this insurance, but before you travel) you must contact our medical helpline on 0870 774 4408. They will tell you if cover can continue. If we cannot continue cover you may be able to claim for the cost of cancelling your travel arrangements. We reserve the right to amend the terms of, or cancel the policy.

Elect

Elect policies do not cover any pre - existing medical conditions.
