We cover you if you are participating in Skeleton on your winter sports holiday.

Our Insurance policies cover you with these benefits while you are riding Skeleton and also travelling.

Note that you are only covered if you are wearing the correct protective equipment, that is, a helmet,  a race suit that has abrasion-resistant material,  elbow, and knee pads. A back protector and neck brace are optional, but will enhance your safety.

We also cover

Cresta Run, Cresta Run Competitions, Bobsleigh, and Bobsleigh Competitions.

Please note Skeleton is not the same as the Cresta Run-  see the main differences at the bottom of this page.e

Safety considerations when doing Skeleton

  1. Make sure you are physically fit

  2. That you have the equipment as mentioned above

  3. Check the ice conditions before you ride, and the weather

  4. Familiarise yourself with the track beforehand

  5. Practice your starts

  6. Make sure you know the Emergency procedures of the course beforehand

Difference between Cresta Run and Skeleton

Both are headfirst down an ice track, however

Track - Cresta Run is a unique track with natural ice and has challenging twists and turns

Track - Skeleton - Standardised racks are normally artificial ice tracks and are normally smoother and faster than the Cresta Run

Steering - Cresta is with your boots for steering, whereas skeleton is more about shifting body weight and positioning and has less control.

Skeleton is more standardised and is an Olympic Sport and has its own Rules,  Cresta Run being more  unique and quite exclusive
